Accessibility

What is genuinely true today, and what is not, said plainly rather than claimed.

What we aim for

WCAG 2.2 at level AA, for both this website and the app. We are a very small company and we have not paid for a formal audit, so treat what follows as an honest self-assessment rather than a certificate.

What is already true of this site

• Every colour pair used for text was measured against its background and meets the AA contrast ratio.
• Everything is reachable by keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible. A skip link is the first thing you reach.
• Headings run in order, images carry alt text, and the page declares its language.
• The words are in the HTML itself, so a screen reader or a text browser gets the whole page without running any script.
• Smooth scrolling is switched off automatically for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
• It works down to a 375-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling or overlapping text.

What falls short

• There is no light theme. The site and the app are dark only. Dark backgrounds suit some people and are harder for others, particularly readers with astigmatism, and removing the choice removes a genuine accommodation. Your browser's own reader mode or a forced-colours setting will override our colours if you need it to.
• The app has not been through a full screen-reader test. It is a small window of standard buttons and lists and should behave, but we have not verified that properly and would rather say so than imply we had.
• The apps menu in the corner is drawn by a shared component we did not write for this site. It reports itself correctly to assistive software, but its behaviour is not ours to fix directly.

If something here stops you doing what you came to do, please say so, and be as specific as you can bear to be about what you were using and what happened. Write to complaints@lightmorphic.com. You will get a reply within two working days, and we will tell you plainly whether we can fix it and when.
